Mayweather vs. McGregor: Let The Battle Of The Peacocks Begin

Let's get ready to rumble! After an epic year of hype, boxer Floyd Mayweather will finally get in the ring with MMA fighter Conor McGregor. And while Mayweather is heavily favored to win the match, the chirping and the costumes have created quite the buzz. These fighters have been flaunting some epic fashion on the runway to Las Vegas. So much so, that GQ is calling this bout "The Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather Style Showdown" pointing out "They have McDuck-levels of disposable income and spend it on the priciest menswear on planet Earth, but which fighter is most stylish?" Good question.

We reached out to Jamaal Rich founder of More Than Stats a website dedicated to featuring fashion focused pro athletes for his commentary. "Outside of the ring (or Octagon), both Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor are notorious for donning luxury designer clothing, bespoke suits, and extravagant jewelry that'll probably cost more than the average person's annual salary. Fashion has been a primary outlet for these two fighters to flaunt their wealth. Gucci, Versace, and Louis Vuitton are just some of the designer labels you'll see Floyd and McGregor sporting on the regular."

And still, McGregor took a shot a Mayweather's press conference put-together "What … is he wearing? He looks like a little 12-year-old break dancer," McGregor said. "You're 40! Dress your age." Ouch!

So who wins the battle of the peacocks? Is it Floyd's well accessorized, mash up of high street style or McGregor's all business bespoke suits and flamboyant ties?

We'll defer to Rich, "If I had to choose who had the better style, I'd give the slight edge to McGregor, he wears his David August (clothier) suits so flawlessly, and takes more risks with his wardrobe. He'll entertain you with his smart mouth and bold outfits."

Win or lose tomorrow night; they'll both walk away with enough dough to shop til they drop.
